About Us

Our Mission

At Grace It Up Prison Ministry, our mission is to show the love of Jesus Christ to those men and women in jails and prisons.  We believe in the power of feeding both the body with good food, and feeding the soul with the Bible & real Christian testimonies, to both those on the inside as well as on the outside.  As documented in the book of Luke, there are 10 accounts of Jesus eating with others, including two after the resurrection. Jesus understood  better than anyone the power of breaking bread together,  developing that bond with someone, regardless of background, just as a friend would do when dining at the same table.  Our purpose is simple- to be instruments of God to those incarcerated and formerly incarcerated in spreading the Good News that offers hope & salvation to all who believe in Jesus Christ as their eternal savior!

Our Impact

Over the past 3 years, over 150 volunteers have come together and have served over 4,500 meals and Grace Bags to individuals in our local incarcerated community. Many of our volunteers have spent time behind bars. But with their life changed, they want to give back. We just to remind those that are often forgotten that we are thinking ab out them, praying for them, that God loves them and so do we!

Our Programs

We work with and support a variety of programs and services to those who are currently incarcerated as well as those transitioning from behind bars to the outside world.  Whether its through serving hot fresh meals, speaking to youth & groups, collecting toiletries, assisting those who have recently been released, or just listening,  we want to be the hands & feet of Jesus Christ. This year IN 2025, GIU is expected to serve over 4,000 residents at local correctional facilities! What a BLESSING to be a part of!!!

We would love to have you join us!

Since Grace It Up began in the fall of 2023, our mission has been to demonstrate the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and the profound impact of compassion and kindness within our incarcerated community. Thanks to the unwavering hard work and dedication of our growing team, now over 160 strong, GIU volunteers have served more than 3,000 meals to individuals whose spirits are in greatest need of nourishment. This year alone, we are privileged to share the message of Jesus Christ with over 4,000 incarcerated men and women.

What sets our volunteers apart is the unique and powerful connection many share with the justice system. Having walked the same path as those we serve, they possess a firsthand understanding of the struggles and challenges these individuals face. Through their own journeys of transformation and growth, they have discovered a deep and compelling desire to give back, to extend the same grace they received, and to make a tangible, positive difference in the lives of others. Their lived experience brings an unparalleled level of empathy and authenticity to our outreach.

Anthony Willis, also known as Smiley, was once a troubled young man. After committing a serious crime at just 16 years of age, Smiley found himself behind bars with a life sentence and no chance of parole. Despite not growing up in a religious home, his life changed when he met two persistent ministers who introduced him to the gospel. Through reading the Bible and prayer, he began to develop his faith, even though his initial prayers were focused on deliverance from his situation. Though his bargaining prayer was not answered in the way he hoped, he did not give up on his faith entirely. It was through the persistence of a fellow inmate that he began to reconsider his relationship with God. Now, Anthony’s story serves as a testament to the power of faith and the possibility of redemption.

Luke 7:40-43 40 And Jesus responded and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he replied, “Say it, Teacher.” 41 “A moneylender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarii, and the other, fifty. 42 When they were unable to repay, he canceled the debts of both. So which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon answered and said, “I assume the one for whom he canceled the greater debt.” And He said to him, “You have judged correctly.”
